I will soon be start studying in the UK. At first, I was thinking about getting a pay monthly iphone through UK mobile service providers like O2, EE, Three etc...
But now I realised that they probably won't offer me a 24-month contract as I have no UK credit history. Also, I'm not a British citizen nor a European Union national, so I highly doubt that British mobile companies would allow me to sign up for 18/24/36 month contract.
So I think the best possible option for me is to get a unlocked iphone in the US and bring it to Britain. There I would only need to get a sim card.
I am thinking about getting a pay monthly sim (sim only deals). Will the companies let me do this?
I am quite worried about this situation as I don't want to be left phone-less for my first few months of uni. I know there's pay as you go sims, and I am planning to use them for first month. But they're quite pricey for the data limit they provide. So I think it makes sense economically to switch to pay monthly SIM deals as soon as possible.
btw I think I'll have a HSBC banking account already set up for me even before I arrive in the UK since I am a HSBC USA customer. They'll set up a UK banking account for me so I wouldn't have to go through all the hassles of opening a bank account
UK mobile phone for an international student?
