Edexcel is a pretty good choice for Maths!

I'd say the questions are more straightforward!:u:
Hello, I am late, ah well...

Subjects I am doing (some of the exam boards are guesses) English Lit and Lang (AQA):
Mathematics + Further (AQA)
Triple Sciences (AQA)
Spanish (AQA)
History (AQA)
Music (AQA)
ICT (OCR)
RE (Edexcel)

My hobbies include: playing the cornet (Grade 8 D) and piano (Grade 5 M); philosophical and political debate (I am an act utilitarian and a democratic socialist); rock music (I especially like Muse, Radiohead, Iron Maiden, Depeche Mode and FFS); and playing TF2.

Is that OCR Cambridge Nationals? If so, I can certainly assist! You're not late, either, lol.

I'm not too sure - I spent last year (and will have to catch up this year) doing 'Mobile Lunches4U'

We only do voice calls, so no cameras involved  It is a bit nerve racking at first but you soon get used to it! If you PM me your Skype username I can add you

Ok!

Nice to meet you snikerio! I think I'm the opposite of you; I got the highest in the mocks for English and I am dreading maths. Since we're both doing AQA English, my advice is that your best bet is to annotate all the texts you are studying and use the internet a lot.

Good luck :h:

Thanks for the advice! Are you doing Jane Eyre? That's the one I really struggle with - the two plays (Macbeth and AIC) seem more manageable because they're shorter, but being able to answer a question on any part of Jane Eyre seems incomprehensible :frown:

If you want a tip for maths, I reckon it's just down to past papers (although considering we're the first ones to do this exam that's a bit tricky), and making sure you understand what's in the course - buying a textbook and ticking off the units as you go will most likely make it seem like much less work. We did a few old spec papers in class, and you get used to the type of questions they're asking quite quickly.

Good luck!
Hello everyone, my name is Hastosh302 and I enjoy playing sport(football), games, maths and coding.
I take 9 Gcse's and 2 Btec in which I hope to get A*'s and Distinction*'s in.

Spoiler

My favourite subjects are:
maths
computer science

Do I think I'm ready: Yes, I've been doing some revision of the holiday preparing my self for when I go into year 11. I am acctually looking forward to the maths papers, as it is a lot more interesting and harder which means it would prepare me well for A levels. On the other hand, the new English spec I'm not looking forward to remembering so many quotes.

I hope to take, Maths, further maths, physics (and Economics) for my a levels. This is because I would like to study computer science and uni and most likely have a career in that field.

Good luck to you too!

I'm doing Macbeth, Jekyll & Hyde and An Inspector Calls too. What do you think about them? I'm doing Relationships from the poetry anthology.

what a coincidence i'm doing exactly the same as you!
Hi my name is Vanilla, and I'm also entering year 11. I'm really scared to be completely honest, because I recently moved schools and I had to catch up with the workload as a result my grades went down a lot. This lead to a period of self doubt and I began to think that the previous years of school were all an illusion. I still do, anyways before moving I was an average student in most subjects and above in some subjects. Now I'm just low average like C's and B's. I'm trying to get A*-B as my GCSEs results. Anyways the subjects I enjoy are Geography, Maths and Chemistry. I hope to do these subjects at A-levels along with Biology. It's a pleasure to meet all of you😃
Hello my name is Omar and I'm from Egypt but I don't live there  . I do edexcel IGCSE because my school thinks it's a bit more challenging than GCSEs, the subjects I do are:
Maths
PhySics
Chemistry
Biology
English
French
History
ICT
Arabic
Further maths(a bit of a uncertainties because of school)
My favourite subject is physics followed by maths . It's the joy of solving thing a that keeps me going.
Hobbies and interests : coding (for all the coders on the threads does anyone attempt project Euler ?), football, maths and physics , basketball , reading and watching tv shows (doctor who Sherlock the flash etc etc)
Am I ready ?: not quite sure I was keen on revising during the holiday but I've made barely any progress but I'm hoping to be more serious with year 11 coming !
Glad to see all those keen students ! Good luck to all!

[QUOTE=MrMackyTv;67056392]It is boring. I just write crap and I get marks. I hate ICT so much, requires you to pay attention all the time and focus which is hard because the subject is really tedious.

Same. I am doing the draft evaluation for the animal shelter and it's really tedious, I get distracted so easily. My teacher can't control the class and I might have her next year.

There's no one in the Skype group who does ICT Edexcel :frown: I don't have anyone to moan about ICT to.

We've done the evaluation for activity 1 and 2, and it's already 10 pages long. Thankfully, were doing the evaluation after each unit so it's not as bad

Project Euler? I used to do that it was pretty fun and challenging. One of my friends who pretty smart completed many of the 60% difficulty ones. However, since I've stopped coding for a while I've stopped project euler

Hi Omar
How many of the challenges have you completed for Project Euler?
I enjoy solving problems so i'm interested to know more about it.
Oh, since I forgot about the whole 'future' part, I'm considering Music, Physics, Mathematics, English Lit and History for my A-levels and plan take a Music degree at Oxford/Cambridge/any Russel Group university. I would like to be a lecturer in Music when I'm older, since I'm passionate about the subject and enjoy teaching

hi, my name is Katie and I'm new here!
I'm taking 10 GCSEs and an AS level in critical thinking
English literature: AQA
English language: AQA
Maths: edexcel
Biology: edexcel
Chemistry: edexcel
Physics: edexcel
German: AQA
Geography: AQA
History: modern world, OCR
RE: OCR
Critical thinking: OCR

I had RE and the first unit of Critical thinking this year and got an a in critical thinking and I get my RE back next week.

I don't mind the new GCSEs for maths and English but they're a bit annoying asin the old GCSEs i'd have probably got an A in maths and an A* in English but in the new GCSEs I'll probably get no higher than a 7 in maths and an 8 in English - roughly the same grade but it just doesn't sound as good :s-smilie:

My favourite subject is definitely History and I'd love to do a joint honours History and politics degree at uni in the future:smile:

An AS already? Too bad Critical Thinking is a meme subject (few unis recognise it)

Anyway, good luck with your GCSEs. History and politics sounds like quite a good degree to go for! What are you planning on taking at A-level?

yeah ik it's a weak as level but I find it quite interesting and i find lots of the skills are quite transferrable to other essay subjects and our school is quite limited in gcse subject options!

thank you! depending on whether I stay at my school for sixth form or go to a different one I would like to take History, English lit, German, Geography and/or government and politics hbu?

I'm doing Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and maybe Physics if I have to pick a fourth. (a sixth form I was looking at expected you to take 4 subjects) Then, I'd probably do CS and/or Maths at uni. Our school is really limited too, it's quite small compared to others.
