So I got A*BC in my a2's this year, I got into uni but am having second thoughts. Would unis let me onto a course next year if they require ABB? Aka taking the A* down to an A and the C up to a B

Only way to find out is to contact them directly, although they'll probably give you an ambiguous answer about comparing you to other applicants first.

If you apply to a university which makes offers in UCAS points, then your reasoning works. However, many universities making offers in grades will do so because they want a baseline below which no subject will fall, so for example ABB means that they want at least grade B across the board, which you don't have. If you don't want to go to the course you got into this time, then don't go, but be aware that you may not find it an easy ride to find a replacement if this is the attitude the university takes. Since you already have your results, they will decide there and then if you are what they want, and you don't have the advantage of the possibility that when results day comes around next year and you drop a grade, they may take you anyway. A bird in the hand can often be worth two in the bush, and unless you have a genuine reason not to go this year, I'd stick with what you have.
