I was just wondering whether i'd need a printer in my flat? Do Universities charge you to use the printers there?

    Thank you.

Yes they will charge you per sheet.

Printers are cheap and its convenient to have to have your own imo.
I'd just get a small B&W laser printer (not ink jet) or colour if you have to do presentations. Flatmates might bring their own printers.

It's down to your personal preference and whether you want one there.
Universities do provide printers and they will be around the libraries etc and for most universities, not all, you'll get given 'printer credits' and you pay to have more as you use them - e.g. at my university we were given £3 of printer credits at the beginning of term and then it's 6p for Black and White print and 10p for colour and various other charges - so it depends on which you see as cheaper, taking a printer and buying ink or using the printers on campus and paying for printer credits.

I do know a fair amount of people that had their own printers but it's up to you!

Tbh you can pick them up so cheap these days that its worth it for the convenience alone, leave aside the fact that its probably gonna be cheaper in the long run than paying for individual prints
