No idea... but have a look at soundclick.com - a few people on there will help point you in the right direction.

I make that sort of music (well, new era hiphop/experimental) but to be honest I'm not a equipment head so I don't really know! All I need is software synths, a good sequencer, sampler, and my USB Korg Microkontrol .

What sort of depth are you looking to take? Full on studio or just the very basics?

yea i make hip hop beats:

what you need really depends on what kind of style you are looking for.

a sampler is always a good one to have.
i have a roland sp 404 that i am going to sell - rrp £250. had for 2 months selling for £150

then you need something you can sample so i guess records or anything really.
u need something for putting bass in, so a keyboard with a bass mode or a keyboard with a midi output so you can do it on computer.

then its up to you really..whether you want instruments to play a part in what you do.
oh you will also need kicks and snares etc for your beats, so either buy a pack or do it the real way and just sample kicks and snares from records and use them.
    anything else u wanna know?

Also depends what sort of hiphop you're making, if its original hiphop go as with above, but if you're looking to make southern rap, you get an MPC and use the default 808 drumset with softsynths, etc etc.

I make nasty hip hop beats Most modern setups involve a computer, with a decent soundcard in tow they eliminate the need for lots of expensive outboard equipment.

I heard Timbaland has brought out his own music production keyboard.

retails for £5000. you could get a loan, and pay it back with your first hit?

It's really nice, the Neko all in one workstation and comes preloaded with a lot of material and in an amazing white finish My mate is bringing one back with him from the US, I can't wait to have a play!

I've got one, and they're not £5000, they are $5000, which is like £3000. I've got the Roland Fantom, Korg Triton and Yamaha Motif all in there plus about 20G of drums and about another 40G of VSTs and about 30G of samples.

I think if you had that much music equip and you paid for it all without earning money from your music then it would be considered a pretty big hole for your music!

I'm a softsynth man I don't really like the Fantom/Triton/Motif too much but I have the refills for them anyway. I have around 120gb of samples/VSTs/Refills... its funny though I only like using a small portion of it because I've found my favourite sound
