I recently missed my uni offers and would rather take a year out than settle for unis which I don't really want to go to in clearing. I'm tempted to apply to Oxford E&M this year and I emailed them last week to check that my grades etc would be okay as I have a bit of a weird combination. In short, they said it was worth applying as I could be a strong application but they want to know what I will do with my gap year.
My teachers are suggesting this just means they don't want me lazing around doing absolutely nothing for a year. I have a job in banking (what I ultimately would like to go into) lined up for 3-6 months which is great, then I'd like to travel a bit and spend some time in Spain to work on my Spanish. I don't have anything really economics based to do which I'm a bit worried about though. As it wasn't a planned gap year, I'm struggling to find any official schemes/programmes/etc.
So basically, any ideas? Thanks in advance
