Busy people, how do you manage study and gym?

Hey,

Title pretty much explains it. I am a freshman doing a considerably rigorous degree. I'm just wondering how you guys in a similar situation manage to exercise regularly amidst all the work bombardment. Some advice is really appreciated!

Edit: I'm not training for the Olympics or anything, just maintaining fitness

I wake up early and go to the gym at 7:00. This allows me time to do whatever I want for the rest of the day. This works perfectly if you have a 9:00 lecture as you can workout, take a shower and then head for the lecture.

It does mean that I generally wake up at around 6:30 and go to bed at around 10:00, but hey, that's what you would do when you are working office hours anyway so I see it as preparation for the future

If you check out Stronglifts 5x5 , its a workout that will last about 45mins and will improve fitness
Easily.

I'm guessing by "rigorous degree" you still mean less than 37.5 contact hours a week.
What do you mean by rigourous degree

Time management is how

Easily.

At my uni you can choose when your compulsorary classes are.

Put them in the afternoon. Workout 10/11- 12/1. Shower and lunch.

Failing that, attend your early stuff then train late afternoon.

If you can't do it at uni, you'll never do it when working a proper job with kids and other commitments as rockrunride alluded to.
You won't be training every day, maybe 3-4 times a week. A few hours a time at that. Just give up a social activities and you'll be fine.

Or as Unistudent said between lectures or even before lectures first thing in the morning.

"If it is important enough to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse."

That's assuming you travel an hour to and an hour from the gym I'm guessing

Never attended a lecture mate (well 1 in freshers week in first year).

I had 3 hours of contact time a week in 2nd year, was amazing! hahaha

Agree with your quote, if you care enough about it then you WILL find a way, you will track everything and remain consistent.
How badly do you want it? Is the realquestion
give up needless socialising, investment bankers pull 90 hour weeks, so you have time for even 40 hours of study plus gym if you're not a lazy bum

Oh haha  I rest a bit much I think tbh :p: I'm sure I waste at least a good 10 minutes just because I miss the music drop and then I have to rewind and wait for the drop again... I'm so reliant on drops it's terrible :frown:

Wow, if you think about it each of your contact hour per week must be really
expensive £/ per hour I.e £9,000 tuition fee / x total contact hours.

I also agree with that quote. Btw, How's your bulking going? What are you weighing now? I remember you were somewhat similar weight as me way way back.

I interpreted 'few hours' as a turn of phrase but idk...

I'm Scottish mate. No tuition fees.

I had 6-8 hours last year. Will have about 6 this final year. I attend uni working on essays and stuff more than that but it's lovely to hit the gym, take as long as i want. Eat properly and then do some work.
Or get up late and just cruise in whenever i want to.

Quite often take 1/2 days a week off. Gotta get that sleep in bro.

I broke basically when we last messaged. Hence why i never responded as was too devastated.

Bad Shoulder bursitus killed the gym for 4 months for me.
Also broke my ankle to compound it.

Just started bulking again this week, i'm skinny now.
Weighing 68.5kg (was about 71/72kg when we last spoke).

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Happy just to be lifting again.

What about yourself mate? Your bulk ends soon right? What is your bw atm?

You're a vet right? Do vets have clinicals too?
I genuinely don't know how I'm going to manage medical school, the gym, work and socialising. So any medics/vets out there - how do you cope?!
