Im not going to pretend I know a lot about this issue but Im guessing it reveals potential hidden weapons or explosives?

i dont think thats why they banned it geezer.
but i will say france is going nuts, they are making al sorts of crazy laws as knee jerk reaction to the islamist attacks it has faced over last few months - which it is blaming on lack of integration of muslims into mainstream france society
