I got 1A* 2As and 6Bs at GCSE and have got predicted 3As at A level. I was thinking of applying for history, politics and economics at UCL and political economy at King's which both require you to have AAA. I have done other things to support my statement including going to another country for 2 weeks to help those in need, work experience with my local member of parliament, read a couple of books, had a meeting with a Lord, an extended project on 20th century Russia and its economic and social policies, a section of history the course in UCL heavily focuses on. Other notable extra-curricular activities include getting a 2:1 diploma in an instrument which is unfortunately recognized by UCAS and being president of a society in my school which focused on Hindu philosophy.

Should I hope to get better final results and take a gap year instead to increase my chances?

Go for it, you sound great for UCL and Kings
