Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has declared total war against terrorism, in the wake of a recent terror attack carried out by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southeastern city of Cizre, saying the nation would “bear their pain and continue to fight against terror.”
Speaking during a press conference with Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov in Istanbul on Aug. 26, Yıldırım vowed to overcome all attacks targeting the country, saying, “No terrorist group could hold Turkey captive” and “the brotherhood will not be damaged.”
“Let our nation know that we have opened a total war against these terrorist groups. Like the Veteran [Mustafa Kemal Atatürk] had said during the Independence War: ‘Either independence or death,’” said Yıldırım, adding that the deserved response will be given to “these vile people.”
Meanwhile, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan vowed that Turkey would thwart the "dirty wishes" of forces aiming to disturb the country’s peace through terror attacks.
