    Hi all,

I am looking for best universities with automotive design courses and I can't find any unis with that course except Coventry Uni. Am I looking for them the wrong way? Or maybe it has a different name.

    Thanks in advance

Hello bolterixus,I will be studying automotive design at Coventry. Try searching for automotive and transport design. You will find that Aston, Wales Saint David and Staffordshire also do this course. However I found Coventry to be best for automotive design, as it is surrounded by the industry, most if not all the tutors have experience in the industry and it has a lot of history with automotive design.

I didn't like the other university's mainly for the following reasons:

Aston - asked for high grades, that I liked, but the quality of the student work at the end of year show was so bad it put me off. When all of the students work was to a poor quality, it probably means the teaching was to a poor quality. Expecially if you are asking high grades from your students to applying.

Staffordshire - from what I could understand, no one had experience in automotive design, all the tutors were product designers. There was someone who used to work with Bentley who popped In every month or two.

Wales - it is a new course there, and didn't want to risk going with no information from the students and no final 3rd year shows.

If you are willing to study outside of the UK, there are a couple of more renound univerities. Like Hongik in South Korea I hear is very good.
I also would recommend looking at IED (European institute of design - if translated into English).
This is an Italian university I applied for and got accepted, however they used to do 3 years in English and now only the first year, and don't want to deal with the stress of the first year also intensively learning Italian, also the added stress of next year being in Italian - I find English hard enough and that's my first language haha.

    Hope I helped
