Why bother with a post grad course - waste of time? 17-10-2016

My passion is theatre/performance and really want to start a career in theatre. I'm looking into directing or stage management. Would it be best to get experience in a theatre? I was looking into one year courses but unsure if its right.

I also have mild autism, adhd and wonder if I will progress in this career. I want to start ASAP and can't bear wasting anymore time as I already have. I know I would be unhappy in another field. Any advice please?

You would really struggle to get a job in that field without experience to be perfectly honest, so I would start straight away.

Not only does experience look good, but it would make you more comfortable with your surroundings and it would also give you time to really consider what aspect of theatre you'd like to do as you'd get some insight into how everything works. You'd see everything from the director to the actors in action.

Drama clubs, watching actual performances, volunteer work, work experience, it all helps. I reckon you should go with your gut and grasp onto anything useful that you can, go for it! Good luck.
