Is it normal for your windpipe to feel lumpy?

I know that the windpipe has rings around it but when looking straight forwards, right at the start of my windpipe it feels as though there is/are lumps, I don't know whether this is cartilage or not.

Most likely is cartilage you are feeling. I freaked out the first time I prodded around my neck and felt hard lumps and rings and both were just cartilage and normal structures within my neck.
