For students taking a Chinese Studies degree (particularly at Sheffield university) I have some questions about the year abroad at Nanjing University.
Primarily, what did/do you feel are the advantages of Nanjing over other universities in China? Since for Sheffield this is the only partner university you can spend your year abroad at, I'm slightly unsure - Manchester on the other hand offers several different universities to choose from.
Some of my other questions include:
1. Where exactly do you stay during the year abroad (i.e. in a dorm)? Is there a lot to do and see in the area, and is it quite possible to travel to other areas when not studying?
2. I still don't really understand the student finance side of things so is it recommended to save up as much as possible beforehand to sustain yourself?
3. Is there much class interaction between native students or should you just try to form relationships outside of the uni?
Thank you for any help - there are probably more questions I can't think of right now but I'm just trying to gather information so I can make a more informed decision! If I haven't asked in enough detail, please let me know.
