I'm 90% sure I'll be doing a solo backpacking trip next summer. I'm just wondering if anyone else has done anything similar? I'm slightly nervous about going alone as I've never done anything like this before. Are there many backpackers in hostels around there?

I've backpacked in Slovenia and Bosnia. Both lovely countries. Nowhere in the Former Yugoslavia is really 'off the beaten track'- there are hostels in all the main cities/tourist centres. Don't miss Sarajevo- one of my favourite cities in the world! Staying in 'sobe' (private rooms in someone's house) is the norm in most countries- you'll always find somewhere to sleep. No need to stay in hotels.
