Welcome to Sheffield Hallam University! As you will soon discover, the Students' Union plays a massive part in making Sheffield Hallam such a great place to study.

Sheffield Hallam Students' Union is led by Emily Wilkes the President, alongside a team of four other Elected Officers, whose smiley faces are at the top of this post! The Officers are elected in post during the annual Elections in March of every year, and we are here to make sure every student has the best University experience.

At the Students' Union we offer a year-long calendar of events, a coffee shop, café and a bar for you to hang out in between lectures and in the evenings, an Advice Centre that helps with issues ranging from money to academic problems and an overflowing handful of activities including sports, societies and volunteering. There's so much to get involved with from club nights and purchasing your Hallam hoodies from the Students' Union shop, to improving your employability skills, voting for your next union officers, volunteering and of course, there's the biggest event in the academic calendar - Varsity! With all this going on you won’t be short of opportunities!

    Top tips from your officers

Here are my top tips to help you make the most of being a student

    1. Make sure you buy an NUS Extra card

One of the best things about being a student is the awesome discounts on offer- 25% off Domino's Pizza, 10% off Asos.com and free McDonalds! Buy your card at your Students' Union or online today.

    2. Always seek help and advice

Hopefully your time as a student will be trouble free. However, every now andthen life throws up things that need to be dealt with. The Students' Union Advice Centre is here to help. They can help with everything from student funding, money and debt advice, housing queries and academic issues. They can be found in the HUBS (City Campus) and Heart of the Campus (Collegiate Campus).

    3. Get home safe

If you are on a night out in Sheffield and have run out of money don't worry - you can still get home safe with the Students' Union Safer Taxi Scheme. Find out more.
