Hi, I was wondering if anybody would be willing to help me finding work experience in the department of radiography. I know it's the end of summer but I've been asking around hospitals for weeks now - I live in Sunderland and happen to be in a part with only a few hospitals even relatively close by. I've been trying to obtain work experience in radiography but it is proving impossible, can anybody help? I was thinking maybe emailing the consultants themselves but their data online is private so I can't get hold of them. I'm worried that I'm running out of time to get any sort of experience now. I am going into my second and final year of college before I go to University, so this is really important for me. Thank you!

What have you done so far to get experience and why hasn't it worked? Most places will be happy to take on someone who is keen but you have to be persistent.

Are you approaching the right people? When my child did this the school careers people gave them the name of the volunteering and work experience co-ordinator in the local NHS trust, they then approached them and had to fill in a questionnaire and was allocated a weeks work experience in the hospital at a time that suited my child. Easter holidays.

They also managed to get another day in radiography by contacting the published names on the university website. Salford for example, and I think Sheffield Hallam publish details of who can help with work experience. My child did travel a 100 mile round trip for that one day though.

Since Teesside Uni does radiography, why don't you ring their course leader and ask them for advice on getting experience, they will have contacts within James Cook hospital at Middlesbrough and the other hospitals they use for their placements so should be able to assist by giving you a direct contact.

You only need one day in the radiography dept for most courses, so be prepared to extend your search.

Hi, I did work experience at James Cook last month. South tees has a work experience department that sort it all out for you. You can apply here: http://www.southteeslri.co.uk/wideni...ork-experience

I had asked at north tees before that and they said they couldnt offer work experience any more due to health and safety so just bare that in mind. You may have to travel a little bit to do a placement.
