Does UCL offer the whole 'uni experience'

Hi I'm looking to apply to do history at UCL for 2017 start and I'm just wondering whether it has that social and community feel you get from campus uni's. I'm born in London, I've lived in London my whole life so I know London and am definitely not scared by it so that's not an issue. Is easy to make friends and maintain those relations because of accommodation? I'm just asking because idk if a city uni is right for me. I like London and I like the idea of having freedom (it's what uni's about right!) but at the same time at campus everyone is a student and prospective friend. I guess I'm worried mainly that I'll struggle to make and maintain friends due to everyone being scattered everywhere. UCL is my no.1 choice right now and I just need to know what life is like really.
