Computer science book

Hello,
My friend is studying conversion computer science (MSc) course this September and I would like to buy her books related to that subject. Can you please give any suggestion as I am absolutely clueless on what to buy.

Are you studying at Masters or Bachelor level? MSc level textbooks may not cover the modules you will be taking. Your course will produce a reading list for you to refer to - it is up to you whether to buy those books, buy other books (that may or may not cover your module syllabus, or cover it in the depth you need it to) or not to buy anything at all. Until you get your reading list, I wouldn't buy anything at all.
