I have an old desktop that I was going to try and fix as it is completely unusable at the minute. I think the only way that I'll be able to get it working in any way half decently is by doing a full system restore.

But there are some pictures and documents on the computer that I would prefer not to have deleted. Although in saying this I'm not sure if the computer would even be capable of transferring the files onto an external hard drive if i did go out and purchase one as it struggles greatly to even open iTunes.

What is the actual problem? Can you still access your files?

If so, should be a straight job of doing a transfer between the PC and an external HDD.
