Laptop Question for Medics (Or anyone else tbh)

    Hi guys
I'm starting on the Medicine course this October and I need a bit of advice on what laptops I should be searching for.
I've heard that Imperial gives out iPad Minis so I was wondering how many people actually take their laptops to lectures or many just take the iPad?
If an older Medic could answer roughly what percentage of their year had laptops vs iPads at lectures I'd be really grateful.
I can always get a keyboard case for the iPad and just use that, and get a laptop thats more powerful with a bigger screen for use in my room?
I'll be using it for movies and gaming (nothing proper hardcore, maybe just some mmorpgs tbh), so the only reason I'm swaying towards a lightweight 11-13 inch laptop is because of the portability issue.
    What do you guys recommend?

The iPad mini system is actually pretty useless. The library loans them out, but apparently the queue for it is huge and you can only loan it for a short period of time (unless the medicine department itself has a system of giving out iPads?)*

There's no "universal" best way of taking notes in lectures. A lot just write on paper, and in my class (I'm biochem btw) there were a lot more laptops than iPads purely because laptops are easier to type on for most people. It's about finding the best way for you rather than going with the most popular opinion.*

I thought iPads were given out free for Medics... idk I'll see.
I'm definitely taking notes on a laptop though as my hand cramps quite easily and I type faster.
I'm just wondering if I should get a lightweight laptop for ease of carrying or favour a more powerful but bulky one.
    Thanks for the advice
