On the 26th of August I handed over all the necessary paperwork to my local HSBC branch in order to get my student card, but so far when I rang up before they claim that my account hasn't even been activated yet?!
I've asked several friends and they have told me that their application process was fairly quick and simple (with Santander).
Anybody else have to wait awhile for their account to be activated?

If you were already a customer the branch staff should have changed the account type while you were waiting, if a new customer it needs to go through processing abroad and can take at least 4 weeks.
