(1)Access from Airports?Arriving from North America, which one is closer Gatwick or Heathrow? (2) tour of Europe etc, how far is Stanstead,ie Ryanair,Easyjet hub? (3)When Waterloo loses its Eurostar terminal status in Nov,2007 would it be more troublesome to hop on a train to Paris from SSA,GDS?
Hi, KCL Waterloo is very central. If you fly to Gatwick you can get a train to Clapham Junction, then change trains to bring you directly in to Waterloo station. The campus is a 5 minute walk from the main station.
If you fly to Heathrow you can get the tube (underground) all the way from the airport which is cheaper but takes longer, or you can get the Heathrow Express train to Paddington station then use the bus or tube to get to Waterloo.
is pretty good for working out distances, connections etc.
Stansted airport is accessible by train via Liverpool Street station - again this is on the tube network. You can also get a coach from Victoria Coach Station which is the cheaper, but slightly longer option. Coaches leave Victoria for all over Europe which is a great cheap way to travel if you have plenty of time.
St Pancras is the new terminal for Eurostar trains. This is on a direct tube line from Waterloo, so it won't add a great deal to your journey, although Waterloo was obviously more convenient.
Hope this helps - you will soon get the hang of things once you arrive.
