Women are super shallow and can express this freely online with no repercussions

Even in real life they do..

It depends on the woman, of course.

Seen plenty of hot chicks with ugly blokes. Less so the other way around.

I'm not exactly sure what your study proved. Girls like attractive men?

SS

That's right, that's what my study proved. It also proved that they are looks-first, personality second.

If they truly thought that way, they wouldn't be on a dating website.

I explicitly stated 'chat website', not dating website.

I had no idea these websites existed, my bad.
That being said - a bunch of girls saw your picture of a hot guy on a random online chat website, thought that it was actually your picture, then tried hitting on you? I can understand why you're losing faith in women lmao

What age range are we talking?
I recon it's nigh impossible for a normal human being to forgo looks when seeking a mate.

I thought that on dating website looks are the most important thing was well established for most people. They're not gonna look at your picture and go, "He might be really unattractive, but he might have a good personality so I'll spend my time messaging this stranger just in case" you message the attractive people lol

20-30.
I've posted this before but these are some similar observations:

"As you can see from the gray line, women rate an incredible 80% of guys as worse-looking than medium. Very harsh." - https://blog.okcupid.com/index.php/your-looks-and-online-dating/

I find it absolutely hilarious, that you think that men would be any different. Absolutely hilarious.

If you are looking for an interesting read, may I suggest you actually chose something evidence based? Some, I don't know let's go a little crazy, peer-reviewed research?

This study seems to pretty much support previous research on mate selection outside of the realms of online dating. That people's owns perceptions of attractiveness affects their selection of partners, but with males being less influenced by their perception. I haven't read it. http://pss.sagepub.com/content/19/7/669.short

it's online dating, the first "barrier" is looks, that's just the forefront of these things.

irl of course initially you'd go for someone you're more physically attracted to cause that's the most instantaneous attraction/connection you feel, but in real life you have the chance to get to know someone for a longer amount of time and also not under a strictly dating atmosphere, which means girl/guy can fall for each other even if they're not ridiculously good looking...

Online, yeah you can converse, but nothing beats the presence of someone and the long term attachment that forms.

also generally, ive seen more good looking females with less physically attractive males, although the other way round does happen.

Maybe you feel what youve found is "shocking" cause people seem to assume females aren't visually stimulated for some unknown ****ing reason.

Do you think the data provided by OKCupid is incorrect? Not evidence based?

It's simply not science, therefore the data doesn't mean much.

So are you saying the survey done by OKCupid themselves was not valid?

Unless they provide us with the details of the design, details of the statistical tests used (if any?), the hypotheses addressed, yes, I am saying it's not valid. Nothing seems operationalised, who determines the attractive ratings of the photos in the first place?
Read one of the studies I provided, take a look at the methods and results sections, and look back at that blog post.

I'm fully aware of that. But, let's be honest here, why do they lust over people like Margot Robbie, and Kate Upton, because they're good looking, and that goes for everyone not just guys. And, I know how it goes, I'm on Tinder. :colonhash:

Duh, the point is we know Margot Robbie isn't going to swipe us right on Tinder and say "hey babe how you doing".

Women aren't able to separate fantasy from reality, largely because they have the advantage in the dating game until age 30 and often will genuinely have had brushes with male celebrities/rich men etc that suggest they have a chance. Because of the premium on female youth and beauty and the premium on male social status and affluence, essentially men's formative experiences harden them while women's spoil them.

Wasn't even close to insinuating that. :colonhash:

That's probably in the book mentioned in the blog. The man himself says - "Buy my book! It's got stats, analysis, and data from all over".

You can contact him here if you're sceptical: https://twitter.com/christianrudder

Either way, you haven't proven that the actual content is false.

OKCupid users are the ones that determine the attractiveness ratings of the photos.

women are simply nicer by nature therefore we don't openly admit that we also judge on looks, to spare peoples feelings.
i thought we didn't have to, it was pretty obvious that we are exactly the same...

"As a male, I am guilty of rejecting women based on their looks.. but my bubble was burst when all of a sudden I see women doing the same thing to men"

oh I do LOVE irony!

I imagine that he's is referring to statistics such as percentages etc as opposed to significance tests.

You can say that about everything, but considering that

A. It provides no insight into the design, method and analysis.

B. It's not been published in any journal

C. It's not been replicated, and in fact goes against published studies....

I'd take it as seriously as a Daily Mail article.
