More friends and SO or a few friends and a compatible SO?

Want to find the general vibe on here.. Would people prefer a large number of social groups with no SO or a smaller number of friends with a compatible and loving SO in your lives? Ideally we all would want both obviously, however if you could only choose one which one and why?

Because my OCD kicked in when i realised the title didn't make sense

    The later, easily.

Why would I want an incompatible SO and a lot more friends who don't necessarily "know" me.
