Current year assessment problems

Hi

So I did a current year assessment last year as my parents joint income dropped from around 45k to 34k, we've sent in all the evidence from the end of the tax year and that's all sorted. Now the problem is my means tested entitlement for this year is supposed to come from this data but I have been given the non-means tested amount. I received an email from one of the assessors saying that this was because we needed to send in an income permission form from my dad, so we sent that in and I called today to check if they had received it and the person on the phone says to disregard that and send in the financial information from the 14/15 financial year, even though on the form I was sent it says they can only assess me this year from the data we gave them last year. I'm being told two completely different things, does anyone know which one is right? Thanks
