it has complex roots, because if you look at the discriminant, you can see that b^2 -4ac < 0

Presuming you mean and by negative number you mean negative discriminant, then yes, that's correct.

That's because it's for all so will never have real roots.

-1-squareroot of 2*i --> i = compex number

Okay thanks, does this mean I can't get a real answer?? As in just a number. What would I write as the answer, or isn't there one?

How do you get your numbers like that, im guessing it is latex, is it hard to use?

x is an imaginary number so no real solution
