the references are uploaded instantly. dont worry

Do you think it works the same way with other documents, or can it take longer (say, a whole day)? My application is going to be a last-minute one obviously, and I have no idea how the Embark system works, so I guess I should be a bit worried:s-smilie:

I find the Embark system to be pretty fast. Like you, I am in a last minute scramble too. It barely took the system a few seconds to upload my transcripts and Personal Statement. So far, there doesn't seem to be a reason to worry over this issue.

What are you applying for?

no, it's done instantly. Don't worry about it.
Does anyone know what 'registration confirmed' in the referees section of the Oxford Embark system is? Does it mean the referee has confirmed but not submitted the reference?

Im getting very anxious about someone who agreed to referee but hasnt been replying to my recent emails. On the other hand, I dont want to put her off with continued bombardment of emails either....?! Help!!

have you been getting the emails saying Professor X's Form Submitted? That's how I knew my references had been submitted
Yes I received those about my other 2 refs but not this last one.... urrrghh!

Tell me about it. I am panicking about my personal statement and at 2:30 am local time, I have come online to edit and upload it again. If this application does not make me drop half dead, I am at least hoping that the joy of eventually making it to Oxford does.

I have a query regarding the 2000-word writing samples. Is it alright if an essay exceeds by around 200 words? Or do I need to cut my work down?
Reply 1372
*sigh* I don't know, there's no way I can do a 2000-word sample, so I'm doing a single 4000-word piece. 10% either way is probably fine.. And I'm sure they're not going to sit and count the words!
last year I submitted a 2,600 word one and it was fine, however as a DPhil applicant I am not going to risk it this year...everyone around me is panicking like mad, and even though I am scared ****less about the actual outcome, I don't feel particularly panicked about the deadline...should I worry?

I wish my department also permitted a single 4000-word essay too. I guess I'll leave it at 2200-something words then. After reading Xristina's reply though, I am tempted to add the stuff that I had cut out of it too.

Perhaps you don't feel panicked because you already have all the required material ready...? My panic stems from the fact that one of my lazy referees hasn't yet submitted her reference, and I still need to prepare a CV, proofread my essays and keep making last minute edits to the personal statement.

There was this episode of Duck Tales in which Gyro invents a device which makes time stand still at the push of a button. I need that machine.

hm yeah one of my essays is already proofread from last year, although I might actually go through it again. The second one my tutor checked for me a few days ag (she is amazing )
all my references are up :love:x2
and my CV is ready as I sent to Cambridge so I guess it's just a matter of uploading stuff. Although I am thinking of tempering with my proposal a bit, even though a professor at my department said it is already excellent (too strong??maybe he just wanted to get rid of me and not have to suggest anything to me?? I worry )

Haha, or maybe he really meant it and did not want you to needlessly tamper with the already great proposal?

Ive put in the d*** application now, simply to stop myself from deleting & uploading stuff everytime I spot a comma out of place. It was driving me bonkers!! Best of luck with your application

Sorry for my constant questions, I suppose I'm the only one submitting the application 8 hours before the deadline, but I have to try. I'm reposting my question from another thread, in case someone sees it here:

What should we enter at the Proposed Funding Arrangements section? It says "Do not include in this section any University of Oxford scholarships, AHRC studentships, or Departmental studentships."

I am applying for the Uni. of Oxford scholarships and a departmental scholarship, but I guess I shouldn't mention it here? I don't have any other funding arrangements.

If I choose Unknown, then I'm required to enter something in the 'University Tuition Fees: Primary Status', 'College University Tuition Fees: Primary Status' fields etc. (choosing from Applied to/Intend to Apply to). I have no idea what to put there.

argh :P
