Applying to a college didn't win their essay comp

So I'm thinking of applying to Trinity for Eng Lit and I entered their gould essay competition but didnt win.
Would it be a disadvantage to me to apply even after not winning?

Not at all.
It's not trinity and it's a different subject, but my daughter entered an essay competition at a college and didn't win it. but got offer from them no problem the following year. There was a boy in her year at the college on the same course who had also entered the completion but didn't win, too.
Actually, a girl who won the competition was from her school but didn't get offer from a college she applied to.

The important thing is you're actively involved in super-curricular activity like that, and they regard it as a positive sign. So don't be afraid to mention it in your PS or SAQ.
