Why not just draw the structural isomer like you are asked to?

if there is a 3 mark question on drawing a structural isomer and instead you do a displayed formula would you lose all marks.

If the markscheme was strict then you may lose some marks. It does say draw, not write.

But writing the displayed formula may imply you understand what a structural isomer is, I guess.
do I understand that a "displayed" formula is what I would call a "condensed" formula?

eg CH3CH(OH)CH2CH3

How does anyone here know? It depends on the exam and the question. And, probably, the examiner too.

Google suggests that a displayed formula is just the structural formula.

Do you mean that instead of drawing a structural isomer of the compound given you drew the compound itself? If so, I suspect there may be marks available for being able to work out what the compound looks like or some such if there are three marks available. It sounds like you've already taken whatever paper it is though, so I wouldn't worry too much.
