So my mum is being made redundant and i want to support myself fully. part time jobs are hard to come by an come with lots of restrictions- therefore im thinking about escorting- but what does it entail and any dangers should I be aware of?

I have the impression that an escort is just a fancy name for a prostitute

Not completely, escorts are meant to be completely independent where as prostitutes can have pimps (which is illegal in the UK).

There are many dangers with escorting, being completely unaware what escorting entails is not a good place to start

No - it will be a constant blight on your past that you'll never be able to erase. Once you're in it, even if you get out - it could scar you and your approach to relationships in the future. I'm sure your Mum would hate to find out that because of her job loss, you'd be forced into something like this.

There's a large risk of STDs, and probably psychological trauma. Whatever you do, don't do this.

Go to the job centre, apply for benefits to tide you and your Mum over, but don't go down this route. Apply for any type of job:
    a paper round
    working in a store
    but don't go for this
