I think its more of a question in what you do your degree in. If you do a STEM degree (regardless of the University) you attend, your options are just as good if you went to a higher University.

What do you mean by 'options'? Just starting graduate salaries?

Eh, was meant to go to Warwick. Then exam results happened coupled with several missing exam papers, culminating in a very stressful results day and eventually just disregarding the fact that I even sat those papers and just using my other qualifications to nab something somewhat decent in clearing, ended up going to Swansea.

Hey ho, life happens. **** stinks, nothing new. Could have been worse, Swansea are pretty decent in CompSci and STEM.

Ofc got a lot of shtick in PMs and on some other posts about the situation - and as you do the standard "you're crap, you suck" nonsense and all the other snide indirect comments on here but it's expected, you take it on the chin and move on.

Personally, I'm not that phased anymore and couldn't care less about the snobbery and bigotry of uni comparison threads. I've found from participating in them for years that it's just insecurities being manifested through words.

In ending this post, I'm just going to say people should really focus on making the best of any situation - be that if they're at an Oxbridge, LSE, Imperial, Warwick etc or if they're at an NTU, DMU, Oxford Brookes.

Come on, don't pretend you know who these people are

It's quite a far cry from Ghandi, Martin, Bell, Cristoper Nolan, Ricky Gervais, Crick, David Attenbrough and Roger Penrose

It's a 1960s university, so it's not going to have some long list of famous 19th century scientists! It does have quite a few well known more recent people.

Although if it was me, I wouldn't have put Camilla Batmanghelidjh at the top of the page.

What a name - it has batman in it.

Damm i wish i could remember what uni it was that allowed you to go into second year with AAA.

Probably a Scottish Uni, where the 2nd year is really equivalent to an English first year.

I feel like TSR doesn't have the time to mock Unis like UCLan when they're mocking ones like Warick.

I used to go to UCLan, I will happily mock it myself

I don't think I'll ever have enough effort to care on what people here think about my uni (Swansea); although I do get entertained at the amount of effort people put into criticising other unis.

To be honest, I wasn't too keen on them before applying, but did more research and saw that it really isn't that bad at all and loads of people from my course are landing the same jobs as those from the top uni. I'll be learning pretty much the same thing as the top unis (except we are doing less modules overall), so I'm not losing anything at all.

No They are in the top 5 I plan to apply to next year.

I would prefer Cambridge or imperial but I would not be ashamed to go to Warwick. Are we really going to say that anything outside of the top four is just really bad?

Mate. Its in coventry. Nothing else needs to be said

If there are missing exam papers, why don't you tell the exam centre or the exam board? It's their fault and you shouldn't just accept that- you did the exam fair and square, someone else making a mistake shouldn't prevent you from going to university. Or you could take a year out and apply again

Warwick's not actually a bad uni, it's alright

But the university doesn't matter that much except for some careers like banking, law, consulting, politics and journalism. For stuff like accounting or engineering it doesn't matter what uni you go to.

I am 31 will be 33-34 when start, so wont likely be making friends with 18-24 year olds. I will be friendly and sociable and if it happens then fair enough but I am kind of accepting I will be a loner there. I also am autistic and rarely make friends anyway I am usually a loner. the likelihood is that the closest thing I will have to friends there will be people who are polite to me and a bit social for group work. Hopefully i get landed with some Chinese students that speak good English because they work hard and are usually very polite and not likely to be *****y and stab you in the back.

I don't require a lot just some nice places to eat, when I feel the occasion takes me Cinema to watch the odd film and hopefully a casino that does poker and some rich idiots that play there. This exists in most places. Nice places to eat usually consists of TGI Fridays Franky and bennies etc I like american style food. Of course you can't beat the counter best burgers in the world. But the only universities that would be near there would be ones in Dublin and whilst the counter do burgers that are so good they can change your whole perspective on life, I still will not choose my university place based on Burgers.

I have in order to motivate myself promised myself if I get 90+ in every exam this year and manage distinction in Steps that I can travel to Dublin for that burger. It is one heck of a motivation it's an awesome burger.

Seriously though I care about the quality of the degree and tuition+support I will get not so much the location. If it was very close such as Wariwck vs Imperial college. Then things like location may play a part, but it would need to be very close and location is way down the list on my priorities.

pretty sure if they lost your exam papers, you could sue someone. Not a lawyer and you would need to check with lawyer but thats quite worrying could that happen to me? was it your school/exam center or was it something else?

I've just given up mate, same thing happened with coursework not getting sent on time by my Scottish teachers the year before.

It's not worth taking a total of 2 gap years, I just want to get on a degree course and move on with life instead of faffing around with stupid secondary exams and the incompetence of people running them.

Again, everyone has told me I could sue. But I'm not bothering, it's not worth the effort

Was the exam board.
