I live at home as well, my advice is to keep an eye on your student union website for events and also look at joining some societies. I joined SSAGO last year and made most of my friends that way. What uni are you going to and what course are you doing?

I see you've joined the uni thread now as well. Trust me, you won't miss out on too much if anything. Join in some freshers events and look at some societies. Well worth giving SSAGO a look as its a fairly small society and we're all really friendly.

I'm at wolves as well. Go onto the main wolves uni website, current students section, and find the student union webpage. There is a link from there to a list of all the societies. There is also a societies taster fayre on monday lunchtime thats listed in their freshers events. For more info from the national SSAGO website look at http://www.ssago.org/join?902

If you go to the SSAGO table, tell them Barbara sent you. I might manage to make it through but I'm not sure yet. Have to wait and see how money is as much as anything.

    Hello ,

Just because you're living at home doesn't mean you're going to miss out. Sure, it can make it harder but it doesn't make it impossible.

My suggestions are that you start looking on social media for groups set up on Facebook and Twitter by the university or the SU and start talking to people on those etc - just search for people who are going to your university and start talking to them. As long as you're willing to make the effort, you won't miss out.

Also, don't be afraid to go to Freshers events alone - people do do it and it'll be a good way to make friends when you're there.

    Good luck
