I think given the debate going on below about cells and what-have-you we need to look at if we think a foetus is alive in the same way we consider us to be alive as a whole human or in the way that the skin I'm going to exfoliate later is alive...

If you're looking at it with a terminology way, we don't necessary describe a foetus with the same terms in regards to death as we do with adult humans for example - miscarried, stillborn, terminated etc. rather than died in medical terms and pretty often in conversation as well.

A doctor in a hospital doesn't call a time of death whenever an abortion is performed...
