what is this carbon 12 and what does it mean? why is it used as a measure of weight for other atoms?
Carbon 12 is the most common isotope of the element Carbon.
They started using O but there was confusion as O-16, O-17, O-18 are all quite abundant which led to differences in values and so C-12 was chosen.
