Newbie here, just wondering if it is possible to work part time whilst doing a student nurse degree? I have a house and the dreaded bills that come with them and the student loan doesn't really equate to much. I currently work full time and was hoping to reduce my hours so that I had some regular money coming in. Do any of you student nurses manage to juggle this successfully, as I know the schedule is pretty packed?
    Many thanks

    Hi there,

I am about 2 weeks away from qualifying. I have studied at Surrey which may differ from where you will be going but I would say it will definitely be possible to work whilst working as a student nurse. The best way to do this would be to be on the bank as a health care assistant either at a local trust or a nursing home etc.

Thank you, that's a relief. I work for the NHS (ambulance service), so it should be easy enough to get some shifts to fit around my schedule.

    Oh cool!

What do you do for the ambulance service?

Yes absolutely they should be most understanding.

I'm an emergency medical dispatcher, it would be nice to keep my service and benefits too. Which area of nursing are you going into?
