Boron contains a p orbital because its electronic configuration is 1s2 2s2 2P1 ?

Duh.

What is happening in the P block elements in regard to the p orbital?

If ur using the Edexcel AS textbook it’s says Boron has 4 protons not 5. It’s incorrect it has 5 so being in p block makes more sense 1s2 2s2 2p1
