I'm trying to write my personal statement to study mechanical/motorsport engineering. can anyone give me some tips on an opening for it please?

TSR has a personal statement help service that you can use when you have 100 posts.

You might find these tips helpful. It can be easier to start elsewhere, and write a different paragraph first. Some people find the hobbies/interests paragraph easiest. Or you could start with "I want to study engineering because..." and just see what happens from there
