You need to filter through all the BS and other c**p in the adverts and find the verbs they use to describe the employee, or the specific tasks. It's not prior work experience they are interested in, it's just prior experience. You need to be able to show them you can do the role, ie keep smiling at customers all day, handle money on the till, use your initiative to solve customer questions, turn up on time all the time, look smart etc etc.

You need to look at your life and see where you can give evidence of having those skills, and it doesn't have to be from work. Cadets might show taking pride in yout appearance and good time-keeping, working at a car boot or in a charity shop might show cash handling and customer service, volunteering at an old folks home for DofE might show customer service skills, debate club at school might show presentation and communication skills, a sports club might show teamwork and organisation etc etc.

Don't think about experience as events, break it down into specific skills and think how you can show you have evidence of those skills.
