I need to write a personal statement to apply to uni, but I have no idea how to start it and i'm really struggling. Any advice will help, I will be applying to adult nursing if that helps thanks.

Ask your head of sixth form?

If it helps at all I left the start of it until the end of mine. I started by writing down a list of things I had done, and then tried to relate them all to my chosen degree choice. After that it was just getting everything to fit together and I found to pretty easy to find a starting sentence then (much easier than thinking of one before I had written anything!). I think I used my first sentence to explain my favourite thing about the subject (Biology). One of my friends used hers to explain how she wanted to be a superhero (primary teaching). There are lots of ways you could start, but I found after you've written the main part of it it's easier to find what fits in best with your statement.

    Good luck!

I'm in a similar situation.. I've stared mine with the phrase "I had been introduced into *SUBJECT* by/from...*PERSON OR EXPERIENCE*". Start off by talking about why you want to do the degree.. then you can branch off into any extra curricular activities that you've completed etc....

Okay, have you got any work experience? cause i would say,

    - one paragraph just talk about nursing and how you wanted to do it since you were young and how nursing is a vital to the health system blah blah
    - one paragraph for work experience,
    - one on your subjects and how it prepares you for nursing,
    - one on yourself in terms of skills/prefect if you are/volunteering/awards.
    - and a beautiful conclusion.

first Just type, type rubbish, type anything AT FIRST.
Then, start to correct through and give it to people to read!
