I'm due to start a part-time foundation degree in mechanical and manufacturing engineering in January.

Does anyone have any advice on subjects to read up on (Other than general level 4 maths/physics) before I start? I want to get as much of a head start as possible.

Also, how do people rate Derby University in this subject? Course content, teachers, support, facilities. Bearing in mind I will be attending one day per week with study at home/work.

One other question; As I'm starting in January, will I be expected to pick up my studies where the September starters are? Or will everything be shifted back 4 months to account for my alternative start date? (E.g June exams in October etc).
