Will doing a major/minor degree hinder me when it comes to applying to do the BPTC or getting a job in the Law field afterwards?

Are you doing your law degree in the States, because there is no concept of a major/minor in the UK.

As to the BPTC/LPC, LPC providers will take you on their courses as long as you have a pulse and heavy wallet...and the pulse is optional. BPTC providers are a little pickier from my understanding.

As far as a career is concerned, it depends if you want to become a solicitor/barrister or something outside of the traditional legal fields, like working in government, for example. Base requirements also fluctuate to some extent depending on what field of law you want to go into, the bigger corporate firms' requirements are different from boutique or high street firms, same with commercial barrister chambers when compared to family or criminal sets.
