Patients waiting up to 8 hours to be checked into A&E

So A&E waiting times are ever present in the news recently. The above example giving figures of patients waiting up to 8 hours to be transferred off an ambulance trolley into an A&E space. This means a paramedic is required to stay with that patient before they can be formally handed over.

We haven't even entered winter pressures yet, but we're already seeing winter record A&E demand. It's a system struggling to cope and is at the brink of genuine collapse.

I would be interested to hear people's thoughts as to what is causing this, and what the potential solutions are.

Unfortunately, there's no real solution to cut down waiting times until the GOV can pinpoint the problem.
