History personal statement opening sentence?

I realise the opening sentence needs to be punchy and powerful but i am completely strapped for ideas.
Can anybody help me... please?
ps. i am applying for BA history at UCL, Kings and LSE

Nobody will write it for you, as that's plagiarism. But a lot of people find it easiest to write the first sentence last. If you have over 100 posts, you can try using TSR's free PS review service and see what someone thinks of your current draft.

It's a myth that it MUST be punchy and powerful.

What it needs to be is PERSONAL - it needs to get straight into the nitty gritty about why you want to study this subject for the next 3 + years.
