Couldn't find a thread that had already started for the OCR Biology A exam for year 2, but I think it's a good idea to be thinking about the exam right through the year for top grades!

unified one looks like a killer tbh

Wow you guys are determined!! How are you keeping up with the as revision? What textbooks do you/did you use and what mark did you get on the as papers?

AS revision is proving harder than I thought. i haven't seen much overlap yet with as and a2, so a lot more extra work.
I got an A on both papers last year, but not as high as I would have liked
Can you recommend any good resources for OCR Biology as I'm struggling with A2

i wanted to add that a great revising website is http://www.thebiotutor.com/a2-notes1.html
i am inspired to become a medical student, so i am trying my best to get a grade A, even though i got a B last year and I revised hard lol.

No problem

I have a few questions if you dont mind answering:
1) are we going to be tested on the pag content in the exams? (Im doing AS btw..)
2) i was doing some of the questions on physandmaths tutor (practical unit 1 question). And it wanted you to know how to use microscope. (Do you need to know about the steps of using it?/ is it lokely to come up in the new spec cuz it doent specifically ask on mine - OCR)

Im also struggling with some application e.g. about preparing slides that are not on the textbook... :frown:

How did you manage to get used to answering them?

And is it a good idea to do the topic questions after i finish a chapter of revision?
Or should i leave it till the end of the module?
(What worked best for you?)

Sorry for asking too many questions

1. Yes
2. No (follow the spec and tick off as you go along)

To answer your question, I still haven't gotten used to answering Biology questions 😂 I'm still working on it!

I plan to do all end of topic questions (I suggest you do the same) 😊 Hope this helps!
Really helps!
Thank you so much!!!!

Anyone know of any good websites with exam questions specifically for the new spec content (not specimen papers, i'm saving those!)? It would literally be so much help!! Also, if you know of any books to work from that would also be amazing.

I've been using physics and maths tutor and it's good but I've found that I have to keep skipping questions as I'm not sure that it's in our spec, for example they have a huge amount of questions on 'temperature regulation' which is a teeny tiny part of our course?? Alongside another bit on 'muscles, skeleton and locomotion which i'm pretty sure relates to sliding filament model and nada else? Would u agree or do I just need to look at the spec better haha!

Thankyou!!
I've been finding biology really interesting this year

Granted, I haven't reached the ecosystems part yet, but I've loved what I've done so far.
Doesn't OCR also put a practice paper as well? Other than the specimen papers there should be another set of practice papers for Biological Processes, Diversiy and unified. Anyone have access to those papers?
