Sober Society at Plymouth Uni

Thinking of starting a society for people who don't drink at Plymouth University. 'Sober' implies that you're actively resisting alcohol or a recovering alcoholic but it will be more for people who just choose not to drink.

It would primarily serve as a social network for people who don't drink as it is quite hard to find others with similar interests at uni. Do people think this is a good idea and have you seen similar societies work elsewhere?

Societies are meant to be welcoming for everyone but also interesting at the same time. I think the problem may be finding people for this society and you need a good selling point for it. Sure, you say it's a 'sober' society but what are you actually going to do? Just be sober? But what activities will you do regularly? It sounds interesting but i think sober society sounds a bit strange for a society, perhaps looking at changing the name and finding out what makes your society different to the others (because some societies also don't drink alcohol).
