a level waves question

signals of wavelength 5micrometers are travelling down a 10km optical fibre. Some travel down the middle, some to zigzag back and forth in the fibre. It is required thats maximum phase difference caused is no more than 30 degrees. Calculate the maximum path difference allowed

30 degrees is a twelfth of a wavelength. Hence we have a max path difference of 5/12 micrometers.
