which calcium ion is more stable the Ca2+ or Ca+??

"Name an atom with the same electron configuration as the Ca2+ ion and an atom with the electron configuration of an Ca+ ion. Which calcium ion of the two is the most stable? Is this an anion or a cation?" This is what i have been asked to answer and i know thatArgon has the same EC as Ca2+ and i think that potassium has the same as Ca+ but i not sure and i think that bth are anions. Any help at all would be great, thank you

K is the least stable i think? would that make Ca+ the least stable ion?

Exactly. K is much less stable than Ar. Ca2+ is therefore much more stable than Ca+.

Thank you so much:smile:

Ca2+
bc its in group 2
so it needs to lose 2 electrons to have a full shell and become stable

Which is more stable, Na+ or Na-?

Na+?

In which case, why is ionisation of Na endothermic, but electron gain exothermic?

Just saying.
