what is freshers week?

im guessing its a week where uni students kinda get to grips with the uni and the people...

but is it compulsory?....is it worthwhile?....is it a week?

Its not usually a whole week,maybe Sat/Sun until mid-week and yes,the main purpose of it is to get to grips with things and sign up for classes,societies and clubs and also to make friends.

It is asscoiated with getting drunk all the time but you don't have to do that if its not your thing.

Some are a week, some less, some a fortnight.
Your uni's SU website should explain better.

Ours is 10 days!

Basically its parties/activities/events to help you get to know other people. And no its not compulsory, but highly recommended. You usually need to be in uni that week anyway for inductions!
