OK I was looking through the list posted below that appeared in another thread (thought you guys should see it if you havn't already) and I noticed that one of the reconmended items was Ball gowns / Eveningwear – for the Freshers’ Ball (note this isn't specific to Birmingham). So I was wondering do we actualy have a freshers ball and if so I don't actualy need a grown do I (I was thinking that people could go in their clubbing 'outfits')?

u need a ball gown!! the whole point of the BALL is that you get all dressed up in your gown and have ure hair done, its an expensive occasion but part of freshers life!!!!!

Damn! Will a suit do or does it have to be a full blown gown (*starts thinking of wearing a dressing gown*)?
Sounds like a lot of hassle to me, but hey I've used the same ball dress now for 2 leaver's do's both were different people because I moved schools so everybody will be none the wiser apart from the people present at the one just gone... Ah well I've only worn it those 2 times I might as well wear it whilst people don't know me.
I was dateless the first 2 times so I doubt we can't break the tradition third time round can we. I suppose the Freshers do is just an easy way to get people in the same boat and make alliances/liasons quickly. Although I see the downside because I'll go round avoiding people the rest of the year I'm sure !

Aliances? You make it sound like some kind of a war - then again making friends and finding partners can get very ugly (same for some of the partners!) at times.
